Frequently Asked Questions

Is it free? ▼
Yes. There is no account, no paid tier and no ads.
Do I need an API key? ▼
No. The extension looks up names anonymously and caches them on your device, so each color is fetched once.
Does it work on every page? ▼
Picking from the popup works everywhere. Chrome doesn't let extensions run on pages like chrome:// or the Web Store, so there the shortcut opens the popup instead.
What data leaves my browser? ▼
Only the picked hex value, sent to color.koval.tools to find names. Formats and Tailwind matches are computed on your device, and history stays in Chrome's local storage. See the privacy policy for details.
