Terms of Service

Updated October 15, 2026. These terms cover the Color API, the color tools and documentation on color.koval.dev, and the KD Color Chrome extension, all provided by koval.dev. By using any of them, you agree to these terms.

Accounts and API keys

You need an account to get an API key. Keep your key secret: anyone who has it can use your quota. Tell us right away if a key leaks and we'll revoke it and issue a new one. We may revoke keys that are used to break these terms.

Fair use

Stay within the rate limits of your plan or of keyless use. Don't try to get around them, overload the service, probe it for weaknesses, or resell access to the API as your own service.

Plans and payment

The free tier and keyless use are free. Paid plans aren't on sale yet. Before they are, we'll add their payment, renewal and cancellation terms here, and nothing will be charged under these terms as they stand.

Availability

We work to keep the service fast and available, but we don't guarantee uptime, and features or limits may change. We'll give notice of changes that affect your usage where we can.

Your content

The colors you send and the results you get are yours to use however you like, including in commercial projects.

No warranty

The service is provided "as is", without warranties of any kind. Color names, conversions and contrast results are computed in good faith, but check anything critical, such as accessibility compliance, yourself.

Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, koval.dev isn't liable for indirect or consequential losses, or for lost data, profits or business, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.

Ending use

You can stop using the service and ask us to delete your account at any time. We may suspend or end access for anyone who breaks these terms.

Changes

We may update these terms. We'll change the date at the top, and for changes that matter we'll email account holders before they take effect.
