KD Color extension privacy policy
Updated October 15, 2026. This policy covers the KD Color Chrome extension ("KD Color – OKLCH Color Picker & Eyedropper").
What stays on your device
The colors you pick, the address of the page you picked them on, and a cache of color names are saved in Chrome's local extension storage. They are not sent to us. History keeps your last 12 picks; Clear in the popup removes them. Removing the extension deletes all of its data.
When you start a pick, the extension takes one screenshot of the visible part of the tab. The picker reads colors from it to show the magnifier and the live color under your pointer. The screenshot stays in memory on your device during that pick and is discarded when it ends. It is never saved or sent anywhere.
What is sent, and where
To show color names, the extension sends the picked color's hex value (for example
#c2410b) to the KD Color API at color.koval.tools. Nothing else is
sent: not the page, its address, or anything you typed. If the API can't be reached, the extension
shows the nearest CSS color name instead and sends nothing further for that color.
Like any web server, the API receives your IP address with each request. It is counted only to limit how many requests one address can make per minute, and the count is dropped soon after that minute ends; the API keeps no list of addresses. Our request logs record whether a request succeeded and how long it took; they do not record your IP address or the color.
The API runs on Cloudflare, which processes requests to deliver them; see Cloudflare's privacy policy.
What the extension does not do
No account, no analytics, no advertising, no tracking. The extension does not read page text, forms or cookies. It only runs on a page when you start a pick, and only to show its color picker there. Data is never sold or shared with third parties.
Permissions
activeTab and scripting take the screenshot of the current tab and
show the color picker on it when you start a pick, and record the page address in your local
history.
storage keeps your history and the name cache on your device. Access to
color.koval.tools lets the extension look up color names.
